How liquidity shapes an onchain market
Understand PropAMM terminology, market makers, inventory management and the difference between headline liquidity and an executable quote.
Rialto’s stated liquidity approach
The introduction names Rivo Altus as Rialto’s own PropAMM and discusses connecting other market makers. This is a description of the announced architecture, not a current list of liquidity sources or a promise about depth.
What market makers do
Market makers quote exchange terms while managing inventory and adverse price movements. In general, automated market-making designs can differ in their pricing rules, update mechanisms and access to liquidity. A strategy that actively adjusts prices can behave differently from a pool governed primarily by a fixed mathematical curve.
Depth depends on trade size
Liquidity is meaningful relative to the amount being exchanged. A market can offer an attractive small quote and a materially worse large quote. Compare several hypothetical amounts to understand how execution changes with size. The value of assets associated with a venue is not a substitute for a current executable quote.
Assessing an execution claim
A claim of better execution needs a comparison at the same time, for the same assets, size and costs. Quotes collected minutes apart may reflect different market conditions. Routing complexity alone does not prove a better outcome; compare final output, completion conditions and transaction costs, and keep the comparison methodology consistent.
